Die zweite Ausgabe des Trendreport Arbeit, Bildung, Soziales – Österreich im Europavergleich widmet sich unter anderem dem Schwerpunktthema “Qualität der Arbeit”. Qualität der Arbeit ist in aller Munde – aber was ist damit gemeint? Das Konzept nimmt in erster Linie die Arbeitsbedingungen der Beschäftigten unter die Lupe. Der Trendreport präsentiert unterschiedliche Aspekte von Qualität der Arbeit in Europa. Dazu zählen die Bewertung von Qualität von Arbeit durch Indizes und Rankings, die Situation in boomenden Berufsfeldern und die europäische Kampagne „Gesunde Arbeitsplätze“. Weitere Themen sind: die Entwicklung des Mindestlohns und die Auswirkungen der Wirtschaftskrise auf Frauen und Männer, die Work-Life-Balance sowie das Verhältnis von Sach- und Geldleistungen in den Sozialausgaben. Der Trendreport Arbeit, Bildung, Soziales erscheint in einer Kooperation der Forschungs- und Beratungsstelle Arbeitswelt (FORBA) mit der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Europapolitik dreimal im Jahr als kostenloses Online-Medium. Dies wird durch die finanzielle Unterstützung des BMASK, des BMUKK, der Vertretung der Europäischen Kommission in Österreich, des BMeiA und der Bundesministerin für Frauen und Öffentlichen Dienst ermöglicht.

The European Union in Search of Its Own Mythology

The attractiveness of the European Union is based on its economic and social model as well as on its manifold national cultural heritage. Throughout the post-Cold War period, the EU has not actively promoted pan-European myths and struggles today with creating a cohesive and credible common narrative. In this context, the author of this Policy Brief argues that to maintain its unity amidst global instability and evolving political landscapes, the EU must develop new, meaningful myths. She discusses the characteristics of the myth-design of the Union and offers policy recommendations.
