ÖGfE survey: Austrians are ambivalent about EU integration of the Western Balkan countries

Austrians have mixed feelings about a Western Balkan EU enlargement. No country in this region can currently count on the majority support of Austrians. Approval for Turkey’s EU membership has reached a low point. These are the results of a recent survey by the Austrian Society for European Politics (ÖGfE).

The current survey was conducted from 30 March to 14 April 2020 by the Sozialwissenschaftliche Studiengesellschaft (SWS) on behalf of ÖGfE (Tel SWS 290). 512 persons were questioned via telephone (Austrian population from the age of 16 / weighted according to gender, age and education). Maximum margin of fluctuation approx. +/- 4,3 percent. Difference to 100 percent due to rounded values.
