Nationalistic populism and its reception in Central Europe – The state of play

Nationalist and populist tendencies are gaining influence across the European Union. An international panel of experts from Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Austria provided current insights into how national-populist approaches shape political debate in their countries and discussed how these tendencies could be addressed in the most sustainable way. The event took place at the fully booked House of the European Union in Vienna and constituted the sixth part of our event series within the framework of the project “Anti EU rhetoric versus own national interests? National populism and its reception in Central Europe”, co-financed by the European Union’s Europe for Citizens Programme.

A total of 93 citizens participated in the event, including members of the general public, students, decision-makers, representatives of NGOs, and media professionals.

The event was documented by means of a video recording.
