Our Activities
The Austrian Society for European Politics (ÖGfE) presents European topics in an accessible manner and contextualizes Europe-wide developments for Austria. Through policy briefs, publications, media contributions, monitoring of votes by Austrian Members of the European Parliament, and representative surveys, the ÖGfE accompanies European policy debates in a well-founded and transparent way – with a focus on the future of the EU, democratic developments, and Austria’s role in Europe.
A key focus is on educational work: the ÖGfE develops practical formats for schools and educational institutions, including teacher seminars, workshops at vocational schools, and the traveling exhibition EUROPA #wasistjetzt, which presents European topics in an engaging way and fosters exchange and critical thinking.
International projects and networking form a central foundation of the ÖGfE’s work. The organisation initiates and supports EU co-financed projects and organises the Cres Summer School, which enables students and young experts from the EU and neighbouring countries to engage in cross-border exchange and sustainable networking. Thematic priorities include the future of Europe, EU enlargement, the Western Balkans, democracy, the rule of law, populism, and disinformation. The international orientation is also reflected in membership in networks such as the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA), the European Policy Institutes Network (EPIN), the Forum of Foreign Policy Think Tanks (FATT), and other networks.
In addition, the ÖGfE regularly organises public discussion events. The Europa Club series forms the core format, complemented by Europa Club on Tour and Europa Club Uni, specifically targeting young people in the federal states as well as students at universities and universities of applied sciences.
